Don't be a Dope Don't Smoke Pot

It's quite possible we are doing a terrible disservice to our children when we are permissive about the dangers of marijuana.

Studies show that the mental functions of people who have smoked a lot of marijuana tend to be diminished. The THC in cannabis disrupts nerve cells in the brain affecting memory.

Several studies also associate workers' marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers' compensation claims, and job turnover.

Marijuana use during pregnancy is associated with increased risk of neuro-behavioral problems in babies.

Pot Kills - If you drive after using marijuana, your risk of being in a car accident more than doubles.

Dangers in the immediate effects of marijuana include distortions of time and space perceptions and impaired coordination

The gateway drug hypothesis asserts that the use of cannabis may ultimately lead to the use of harder drugs.
Marijuana doubles the risk of a car accident when people try to drive soon after using it.
In a study released earlier this year, Columbia University researchers found that marijuana contributed to 12% of traffic deaths in 2010, triple the rate from a decade earlier.

Don't be a Dope Don't Smoke Pot!

Step One is about honesty, about giving up our delusions and coming to grips with reality. We had to look honestly at our relationship with marijuana and its effect on our lives.

The price of death:

In 2015 the Mexican government released data showing that between 2007 and 2014 a period that accounts for some of the bloodiest years of the nation’s war against the drug cartels more than 164,000 people were victims of homicide. Nearly 20,000 died last year alone, a substantial number, but still a decrease from the 27,000 killed at the peak of fighting in 2011.
